Do you have questions about Invisalign®? If so, our orthodontist, Dr. Rebecca Payne deVerges, encourages you to find the answers as soon as possible. The sooner you find the answers, the sooner you’ll know this treatment is right for you and the sooner you can increase your chances of having a successful orthodontic treatment. To help you find the answers to your questions, our orthodontist is happy to share the answers to the following commonly asked questions about Invisalign:

Question No. 1: How does Invisalign work?
Answer: Invisalign uses aligning trays that are made of a clear plastic. The trays will be shaped just like your teeth, but they will have a slight change. In fact, the trays will be formed to shift and move your teeth little bits at a time. When wearing the trays, the way the tray is shaped will push the teeth into their proper positions. You will get new aligning trays when necessary.

Question No. 2: How can I care for my Invisalign trays?
Answer: You should clean and care for your aligning trays regularly. You can clean them by using the Invisalign cleaning kit and following the instructions closely. You can care for your trays by keeping them in the case provided when you’re not wearing them. You should also avoid placing them in a hot environment because the heat can warp and misshape the appliance.

Question No. 3: Are there limitations when aligning my smile with Invisalign?
Answer: Because the aligning trays are removable, there are little to no limitations during treatment. You should be able to eat, drink, brush, floss and do other regular tasks with ease, as long as you remove the appliance beforehand.
